I would welcome Members’ input to News Notes. This week we have no Presidential report nor any report of last week’s meeting. Please consider what you can contribute, particularly if you are rostered on for a duty. Thank you.

Next meeting
Our next meeting is an outing to Stepping Stone Café, 90 Stockdill Drive, Strathnairn.
This is a community-based cafe that has been set up to help migrant and refugee women overcome the barrier of entering the workforce. There are craft and artworks for sale at the Arts centre.
To get there, either get guidance from Google Maps, or:
turn off William Hovell Drive and head west along Drake Brockman Drive, which turns into Pro Hart Avenue
turn left into Gullifer Street, at the end (about 100 meters) turn right (sign to art sales)
follow the dirt road to the very end, you will see signs for the Café along the way
the Café is on your left, set in the old homestead. There is overflow car parks along the road you came in on, just a longer walk.
If you are planning on attending but haven’t responded to Eric’s invitation, please do so by 11 am on Tuesday, 14 October.

Coming up soon: Candle Festival, 25 October
On the afternoon/evening of Saturday, 25 October our Club will be running two stalls at the Canberra Nara Candle Festival, selling drinks, ninja sausage sandwiches, and Bill’s famous taiyaki (photo of Bill in action last year). Please set aside some time between 3 pm and 9 pm to help our Club raise funds.
Rotary elsewhere
Rotary is alive and well in the NSW country town of Gunnedah. On the morning of 31 August, members of the Rotary Club of Gunnedah (chartered in 1937) cooked a bacon and egg roll breakfast for some 180 square dancers. Chatting to one of the members, it was evident that Rotary is active in the community. On that very day the town’s second Rotary Club, the Rotary Club of Gunnedah West, was holding a golf event.
Stephen (temporary editor, square dancer, and Rotarian. But not a golfer.)
