Hello Club Members

 

This week we are having a Zoom Meeting with a presentation from Stephen McMillan about his trip to the Northern Territory.

 

Counting for the choice of venue has so far been 8 in favour of the Royal Canberra Golf Club and 2 for the Mercure. Please indicate to me your choice before we close off the Plebiscite.

 

Discussions about the possible merger of Clubs will be held on the 31^St August at the Canberra Yacht Club if you wish to join our group.

 

The ceremony to remember the Bombings in Nagasaki and Hiroshima went well with around 70 people attending including the singers Rhythm Syndicate, Dr Sue Warham, Shane Rattenbury and the Japanese Ambassador. The ceremony was very moving and showed the Peace Bell to be a focal point of Peace ceremonies in Canberra. Some of the Peace cranes produced by the Mawson and Majura Schools will be sent to the Peace Park in Hiroshima. Children and teachers from the school were present.

The Woden daybreak club has announced that they will from now on will have two meetings in the mornings at their normal venue of the Pearce Community Centre. On the 2^nd and 4^th Thursdays they will meet at local restaurant. Their first night meeting is this week on the 8^th August. If you want to join them, please email wodendaybreak@outlook.com. Gary Davis will be speaking on Rotarians Against Malaria after his recent attendance at a Conference on Malaria in Port Moresby.
