Well we are gearing up for the International Day of Peace, this year it is on the 19th of September - That's right This Friday! We are expecting a good attendance by the ambassadorial community as well as the Canberra Multicultural Community.
I'm Bringing the PA system, Neal is bringing the Chairs, Astrida is bringing the organisation (Thankyou!) and we are crossing our fingers for good weather.
Also on the horizon but getting closer every time I look is the Candle festival. We have a bigger stall this year and will be selling Ninja Sausages as well as having pancakes coming out our ears! We have some Sake and I'm sure Ross will bring the beer and wine (To Sell!).
This week is our casual meeting, we are at Walt and Burley on the Kings Avenue Bridge side of the Kingston Foreshore. They have good food and I am sure all of you will bring the good conversation and the Good Vibes.
Have a good Week.

CHANGE OF VENUE THIS WEEK:
The commencement of the Floriade festival has forced us the change our plans for the social meeting this week.
We are meeting in Canberra’s equivalent to the Sydney Harbour at Kingston Foreshores – Walt and Burley Restaurant, 70/17 Eastlake Parade Kingston Foreshore. This restaurant is closest to Kings Avenue Bridge, and there is ample parking available on Eastlake Parade (2 hours) or across the road in the carpark for the Bus Depot Markets . Please send your acceptances as we have booked a table.
See you there! Ed.
Last week’s speaker:
Michelle Jenkins, Firefighter and park ranger, entertained us with an extensive photographic journey depicting her extraordinary hike from Valhalla, Victoria to the Namadgi Visitors Centre, a journey of over 450 klm. Why? To prove to herself and the world that if you have a dream you can overcome terrible mental challenges and physical limitations if you really want tp. Michelle's challenge was PTSD originating from extensive firefighting situations in the Canberra bushfires. It was a wonderful uplifting presentation of achievement against adversity. Here are sone photos:
Michelle's challenge was well planned.
Each night brought a new adventure as she stopped at isolated mountain huts.
Some huts were new, others many years old. Brumbies, emu and birds accompanied her adventure.
Also coming up:
The Candle Festival at Canberra Nara Peace Park is fast approaching on Saturday 25th October. Make a note in your diary as we will need all hands-on deck to help with the sale of millions of Ninga Sausages, Beer, Wine and Sake, and Taiyaki pancakes from about 3.00pm to 9.30pm. Final planning will be discussed this week over lunch. What job would you like?
