Notes on the run
It was great to see everyone back in the club on Thursday. Lovely to see so many faces.

We are back at the Commonwealth Club this week hearing from Sam Engele, the ACT Coordinator General, Climate Action.

Thomas has just moved back to Sydney so life will be getting back to normal more, but I have lost my lawn mowing service.

We are still waiting to hear about parking at the Canberra Show, but if you can keep some time that weekend free. I think I’ll be in town, but it does conflict with Taylor Swift playing in Sydney... Priorities!

If anyone has any thoughts on project costs etc, please look me up and get in touch. Don't forget the 2 PETS sessions coming up in Batemans Bay and Cootamundra. They are good sessions for a bit of motivation.
President Warrick

Last week’s meeting
Last week Member Russell kindly stepped up to show us some photographs of his visit to Japan. Here’s three of the photographs he showed (I can’t match his commentary, so won’t try!).

Next meeting
This Thursday we will meet at the Commonwealth Club and hear from Sam Engele, Coordinator General, Climate Action, on the topic “Climate Action in the ACT”.

Inflation
Please note the new meeting fee is $45, starting this week, due to a rise in the amount the Commonwealth Club charges us.

Nusa Tenggara Association (NTA) events
On Saturday, 13 April, the NTA will hold its Fundraising Dinner at the Southern Cross Club. There will be a guest speaker, entertainment, raffle, and silent auction.

The NTA’s latest annual report is available online here.

Advance notice: the NTA is planning a Donors’ Trip to Indonesia for 20-26 October. This will be a great opportunity to see where they work and meet some of the beneficiaries. More details to follow in due course.

Rotary elsewhere
Here’s a photo of a wishing well in the Albury Botanic Gardens, installed there by the Rotary Club of Albury in 1955. It does not seem to be an active fundraiser, as I could not find any mention of it on the Club’s website. I note also the water is a dark colour, discouraging thieves (and Club Treasurers) who cannot see how many coins are there and may not want to get their hands covered in slime.

I’d welcome contributions of Rotary activity (past or present) that Members have seen on their travels.
Stephen McMillan
