The President’s Report
I think all will agree that our ZOOM meeting with ex President Terry Newman in China was extremely interesting. It was great to hear that Corona ( not the beer ) was not a major problem where Terry is living, his business is going well and the ongoing problems with China and Australia’s relationship is having no ill effects on him or his business.
I am very pleased to announce that the problem of President Elect for 20/21 has now been solved. Warrick Howieson has stepped up and will be our next President.
Considering that Warrick is only in his first year of Rotary he deserves our gratitude and all the help and support we can give him next year.
We now need to find a Treasurer, ANY TAKERS ??
I feel it is time the Club held a social function and one of our members has suggested a " Bare Foot Bowl " at the Canberra Bowling Club. ( where we had our Xmas dinner ) These events are a lot of fun and I intend to start the ball rolling, more details to follow in due course.
President Eric.

Membership
The Membership Committee continues to meet on a regular basis and is working on putting foundations and structures in place for the future and the next membership team. We hope to be in a position to induct two new members in the near future.
Community Service
Sharon met with Liz Scrivener and Di Johnstone recently. Liz is following up l'Arche to assist them to get their solar panels installed. Ron Rabey is maintaining contact with the Scouts to see if we can get our grant used. This may need to be deferred due to covid related issues. Di Has provided Sharon with a range of contacts that may guide us to new community service opportunities.
Social Events
I forgot to put an RSVP on this but may I suggest all responses by 13th Feb.
"Are you looking for a FUN activity to do during summer in Canberra with your friends from Rotary ?
Greg Gibbs has suggested "Barefoot Bowls". The Canberra Bowling Club where we held our Christmas party has an excellent reputation for hosting these events. At a cost of $20 person (excluding any drinks or food) it is not an expensive outing. I have attended one of these events in the past and had a great time.
Can I please ask for expressions of interest from all of you if you might want to participate in such an event ? I am thinking of some time during February to mid March."

On the Lighter Side
A husband and wife are on the 9th green when suddenly she collapses from a heart attack. "Help me dear", she groans to her husband. The husband calls 911 on his cell phone, talks for a few minutes, picks up his putter and lines up his putt. His wife raises her head off the green and stares at him. "I'm dying here and you're putting".
"Don't worry dear", says the husband calmly, "they found a doctor on the second hole and he's coming to help you".
"Well how long will it take for him to get here?" she asks feebly.
"No time at all", says her husband. "Everybody's already agreed to let him play through".
