Hello Club Members

 

Our guest speaker will be Peter Hayhoe, the Golf Pro at the Royal Canberra Golf Club. He will speak about the life of a professional golfer.

 

I have booked the Mercure Restaurant for 26 June for our Changeover Dinner costing $50.00 each. The meal will be a chicken breast or Mushroom risotto, served alternately. One drink voucher is included, with further drinks available for purchase from the bar. The venue caters for up to 65 people in a separate room with audiovisual facilities. The speaker will be Kent Fitch presenting on “Autonomous Cars in the ACT Region”. I will advertise to other clubs to attend and I will ask George to ask the members of the Deakin Residents Association to attend. See flyer below.

 

Mike Whitten has sent an email to indicate that there have been not enough volunteers to maintain the Youth Exchange program this year and so the program for the exchange student from Japan has to be cancelled.

 

The Tuggeranong Rotary Club’s changeover dinner is on Wednesday 18 June starting at 6.30pm at the LDK Greenway Views Restaurant. The cost is $35.00. If you want to attend, contact Sue O’Donnell at clubservice@rotarytugg.info. The menu on the night gives options for Cowra Lamb, Oven Roasted Chicken, Eton Mess and a selection of Australia cheeses.

 

The Canberra Sundowners Rotary Club’s changeover dinner on 1 July at the Ainslie Football Club starting at 6.00pm. The meal cost $55.00 per head for a two-course meal and cupcakes for dessert. You can buy tickets via Humanitix under Canberra Sundowners Changeover 2025 dinner.

 

The Peace Fellows dinner has only 20 people coming and the Southern Cross Club will charge for 40 people even if they do not get those numbers. Email me on russelldew1@gmail.com if you wish to attend. This will be a great night with presentations from the Peace Fellows about their journey to their current studies.

 

Many of you would have noticed a cash donation box at the Sydney International Airport for donation of Australian and foreign coins and notes. We are looking to create a similar box at the Canberra Airport and this could help raise funds for our charities. Astrida is contacting the Sydney Rotary Club to find out the supplier of the stand and obtain the cost of purchase.
