From the President

Hello Club Members

NEXT MEETING IS AT THE ROYAL CANBERRA GOLF CLUB ON 24 APRIL, STARTING AT 12.30 PM
I will be speaking on the topic of the Reasons to use Indexed Funds for your investment portfolios. This is important as we will probably be moving into great instability in world markets including the World Bond Markets. We normally have an excursion but this is now postposed to May the 29th.

STEPHEN MCMILLAN IS TAKING A BREAK FROM ROTARY FOR 6 MONTHS AND WE NEED A NEW BULLETIN EDITOR
We are looking for someone to edit and publish the weekly Bulletin, using Microsoft Word and Club Runner, starting in July. This will improve your computer skills! Please contact Stephen or me to allow a training session for the handover.

ANZAC DAY EVE PEACE VIGIL AT THE GROUDS OF THE AUSTRALIAN CENTRE FOR CHRISTIANITY AND CULTURE IN BARTON, 24 APRIL BEGINNING AT 5.30 PM
We have 4 people to set up the Lanterns at this Vigil. We meet at 3.00pm to start setting up for the Vigil. The Lanterns are in the Chapel so only need to be placed outside compared to last year when they were taken to the site on Mount Ainslie.

We will discuss more details at our Meeting this week.

FIVE SHORT BLASTS. A MUSIC EVENT IN CANBERRA ON THE 30TH APRIL ON LAKE BURLEY GRIFFIN
Warrick has informed me that the GoBoat is nearly full so if you want to join us for a musical experience, book now via: https://events.humanitix.com/charity-preview-5-short-blasts.

The Canberra Music Festival to include the Peace Bell in this event as one of five musical events around the Lake where the audience is taken on GoBoats to various locations including the Carillion. The idea is to sell tickets to Fellow Rotary Clubs and have the funds attributed to the Peace Bell Account that funds the Chief Ministers Peace Prize.

I have put my name down for the Musical Event. Has anyone else going to join me?

NARA PEACE PARK TOUR FOR MAJURA PRIMARY SCHOOL
On 30 May 90 plus students from Majura Primary School will be given a one-hour tour of the Nara Peace Park. I will call for at least 3 volunteers to do a tour at our Thursday Meeting.

Yours in Rotary
Russell Dew

Last week’s meeting
At our last Club meeting we heard from Member Neil about working with indigenous peoples all over the globe to learn how they live in and maintain the natural environment over centuries, and his efforts to give them a voice in decisions on these important environments. The Club also received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Aussie Peace Walk for our support of the event since Rotary became involved five years ago.
